Four people arrested for allegedly demanding drug debt from Canutillo resident

Four people are facing gang-related criminal charges after they allegedly demanded a "quota" from a victim in Canutillo.

El Paso County Sheriff's deputies said at 9:25 p.m. Wednesday, they found two men, Angel Avedencian, 31, and Epifanio Garcia, 51, at a home in the 800 block of Vinton Avenue.

Deputies also noticed a maroon Chrysler 300 with New Mexico plates, with two people inside - Daniel Ramirez, 27, and Merlinda Dominguez, 41.

During their investigation, deputies discovered Avedencian and Garcia allegedly entered the home with an aluminum bat. One of them held a pen to the victim's throat while demanding a $5,000 "quota," or drug debt, to be paid in the next two weeks.

Deputies said Ramirez and Dominguez were allegedly acting as lookouts while Avedencian and Garcia were inside the home.

Each of the four arrestees is charged with engaging in organized criminal activity-aggravated assault. Dominguez and Ramirez face an additional charge of possession of marijuana under two ounces.
