5:15 PM: The Orlando Sentinel reports 86-year-old Orlando Magic owner Rich DeVos suffered a mild stroke last month. DeVos was admitted to a Grand Rapids, Michigan hospital on August 19 and released two days later.

5:00 PM: Fox 26 Houston reports that when Roger Clemens pitches for the minor league Sugar Land Skeeters on Friday, his son Koby will be his catcher. Koby signed with the Skeeters after being released by the Toronto Blue Jays earlier this week.

4:45 PM: Asked by WEEI radio host Glenn Ordway if he had "checked out" of the 2012 season, Boston Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine responded: "What an embarrassing thing to say. If I were there right now, I'd punch you right in the mouth. Ha, ha. How's that sound? Is that like I checked out?"

1:45 PM: The Chicago Tribune reports Bears coach Lovie Smith has lost 29 pounds over the past year: "I'm on a health kick like I've never been on in my life. I'm as healthy as I've been probably since I was a kid. I'm in a lot better shape than I was in five years ago."
