Batting order reshuffle for Australia ? Cricket News Roundup ? Part II ? August 27, 2012
Australia?s acting coach Steve Rixon has hinted at reshuffling the batting order, should the Aussies bat first in the just to begin ODI series against Pakistan.
Speaking to media reporters ahead of the ODI series opener at Sharjah, on Tuesday, Rixon said that they might move Matthew Wade down the order in order to relax him for his role behind the stumps.
?Matthew Wade is probably the biggest concern," Rixon said in Sharjah. ?He has a dual role to play...and his position in the batting may have a bearing on that,? he added further.
If it happens, seasoned batsman Mike Hussey will be moved up in the order, to open the innings alongside David Warner, according to the Australian coach.
India?s Under-19 cricket coach Sanjay Bhardwaj has lavished praise on Unmukt Chand, saying that the rookie opener is more talented than hard-hitting top-order batsman Gautam Gambhir.
?Unmukt is certainly more talented than what Gautam was at his age,? Bhardwaj told?PTI?on Monday. ?While Unmukt is a mixture of talent and hardwork, Gautam was all sweat. Gautam had to struggle and fight a lot more than Unmukt? the Indian coach explained.
The 19-year-old emerging top-order batsman from Delhi recently guided India to U-19 World Cup glory. He played an unbeaten knock of 111 runs in the tournament final against Australia, to guide the side to a title clinching six-wicket win over the defending champions. Sanjay also said that By early 2013, the rookie batsman should be in the senior team.
Flamboyant Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi reckons his team will have an edge over the Australians when the two sides meet in the limited-overs series, in the United Arab Emirates.
While speaking to media reporters at the Karachi international airport, before leaving for UAE to play in the Australia series, the former Pakistan skipper said that the UAE conditions suit Pakistan and this makes them favourites going into the series.
?They are a world class side,? said Afridi. ?But we have a good chance as we know the conditions better. All we need is to use our experience there to our advantage [and] we can win the series,? he added further.
